Day at the park

This day the kids had been in the house all day. I remember looking out the window thinking "How nice, those kids are outside just playing their little hearts out." Then I realized my kids would like to do that too. So we swooped down to the park. It was the magic hour. Just enough time to get some good shots and some good playing in . Check it out.

Barber Shop

No, it's not Ice Cube's new joint. Just practice. Always have to be in search of inspiration. It could be in the form of a beautiful sunset or as simple as a sharp pair of clippers ready to fade you up. I try to make a subject out of most anything. Check out the slideshow.

Armatures keep doing it till they get it right. Professionals do it so much they can't get it wrong.

D Town Stand Up!

I live in Dallas and I wish people were aware of the incredible pool of talent in this city. We have a number of signed and unsigned artist that make this a great city to enjoy music. Because we a are a huge market of course we have businesses to support all types of media outlets. This was a clip I found, yeah it's old, of one of the conferences held hear in Dallas.

Big up Headkrack! Keep doing your thang mayne.

READ a B-O-O-K!

I was late on this one. A friend put me on to it. It got played on BET...good thing or not? There was a big controversy about whether kids were ready for satire like this. Take a look and see what you think

Now here are were a lot of talks about not only the content of the video but the placement. Should this have played during peak times when kids were more likely to watch? Take a look.

Meet the creators and see what they have to say about their work and the attention it has drawn.

My take, it's a good work. I'm a parent and I believe that we in this country has to put the power back in the hands of parents. I would not let my kids watch 106 and Park on their own at all. The powers that be are about making money and they are not going to make music with my kids in mind. It's my job to decide and monitor what my children see and hear. Consider the messages in every or most hip hop videos contain. Materialism, alcoholism, drug use, misogyny, and self destruction are the meat and potato of the images being played on not only MTV, BET, VH1 and any other outlet that plays mainstream music. *All the channels mentioned are a part of the same company, Viacom. I feel like if parents did their jobs then this video would not even exist. The point was to offset the messages that are kids are already hearing. A work offering another option and I applaud BET for showing it on air. My own brother, I think said it best. The music that makes the most offers bad solutions to bad situations. This was pointed out may times in the animated series on Comedy Central, The Boondocks. The creator is not a fan of BET. What say you?

I'm in the House

Who is J McClure? He's the unknown soldier. The man behind the camera. Whether it's photography or film I'm always looking to do the best for my client. I work with artists, I work with businesses, I work! Tell me your dream, we'll make it happen! I just wanted to share, with those who know me and those who don't, a little of myself. Here is humor, the thoughts, and the madness that is J McClure.
